Officer notes not updating #524

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.assign gp to raid members
2.assign ep to raid menbers
3.Check the officer notes

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It should be "Officer note = Log = Distribution" Yes?

The distribution is fine... 1 person.. (the GM) does all gp/ep awards...No
recurring awards are used..

The Log is great.. perfect record of the raid distribution

Offcier note... Sometimes it changes... sometimes it doesnt.. This seems
to be random with ep and gp, mass ep or individual.

The log is our saving grace, as previously stated.. the log is a true
representation of the awards.

The export information to epgpweb seems to come from 2 places...
1 The log seems to be a straightfoward text that is diplayed on the site
2. The numbers are brought from officer notes... (which are randomly not
updating)

This gives us a clear and unfortunatly perfectly imperfect view of the
information

The 2 side by side do not match, We are having to check and update our
numbers manually each night after raid.

You guys do a great job here, it is a wonderful mod that many people
(including myself) know and love. I fear to think this is an issue that
cannot be resolved. I am hopeing to find a solution to this issue before
my guild finds out.

If there is anymore information or assistance you may require please let
me know.

Is the get/set officer note timing out before applying..
Or perhaps the write information is corrupting (or lagging) before being
applied?

I have not read your lua and am not sure where the mod actually pulls its
numbers "from" to apply them to officer notes these are just thoughts..

Can you please let me know if you have/can identify this problem and
wether or not it will be fixed/addressed in the next update?

Thankyou

3 months no reply? :)

Is this still an issue?

Are you sure there is only 1 person awarding EP/GP at the same time?
If there is a person mass awarding time EP then this person has to award also
all the
other EP and GP. If there is someone else changing points it might conflict.

We have a guild with 200+ mostly lvl 80 members and had the same problem few
times.
We catched it when we've seen that members with the very same attendance see
that
they have different EP.

You could add some kind of transactions, especially when mass award and decay
are
done to be sure that everything has changed as intended.

I would suppose the following algorythm:
1. Make the all changes somewhere in memory and get the snapshot. (Optionnaly
even
give it to the player to copy paste it)
2. Apply changes to officer notes.
3. Compare changes with the notes to be sure changes are done.
4. If something wrong repeat until everything is ok.

The only problem I see here is that player can be disconnected while he does
those
changes and this is why I propose to give him a snapshot in copy-paste buffer.
Also the "restore from snapshot" could be very helpful.

Can you verify you have only 1 person making changes to EPGP at any point in
time?

Should both officer award the same guild member or changes to different members
can
trigger lost award issue? For example we have 2-3 10ppl raids which got awards
in the
same timeframe. Is it incorrect practice?

It shouldn't cause an issue if 2 officers apply changes to different sets of
people.

Ok. Thanks. But I sometimes (very rarely) have got unassigned EP for some raid
members. EPGPWeb is good tool to detect this issue, but I have no idea why it
happened. I just periodically check EPGPWeb for difference between raid members.

We are consistently getting this issue at the moment. Every raid someone
doesn't have their note updated.

-EPGP-
@BASE_GP:300
@DECAY_P:5
@MIN_EP:1000
@EXTRAS_P:100
-EPGP-

Tonight for example, even though the guild announcement announced everyone
getting the EP, the same person (listed every time) missed 3 awards of 50 EP.
(Recurring every 15 mins)

Do you have more than one person running EPGP, like one doing the loot and one
giving out the standby EP?

There has been 0 ppl on waitlist, and the same person (me) doing the recurring
award as well as handing out loot.

Oooooh oooh.. icing on the cake. I'm the one doing the awards, yet I didn't get
one of them tonight? Thought it might have had had something to do with people
zoning at the time but...

A new backend is being designed. I will punt on this until it is released.

Thanks for the time ev. It's just becoming very frustrating dealing with it
with only a small group of people, since I don't think we've had a single raid
over the 2 week period where it hasn't been an issue.

Got a timeframe on the new backend?

I would say in about 2 months just in time for Cataclysm.

This is odd.. I myself have never experienced this and our guild has 486
characters in it right now.

~50 of these have a valid "EP,GP" in the onote.
~350 have a name to link their alt to a main.
The leftovers have some old random note thus are ignored by the mod.

I will say this, I just upgraded my entire computer to some of the best
hardware (with exception to the video card which already was good) AND the 2-3
second lag burst I would get during timed awards while in combat have all but
vanished. I was shocked that this cleared up so much. Once in a great while I
will get a small lag but for the most part it's all gone.

So my question is, do you get a LOT of lag when timed awards are given out?
Your game freeze up for ~3 seconds. This might be a cause of award lost. I
never experienced lose of awards from my lag but dealing with computers all my
life, I wouldn't rule this out.

Nope, have never lagged from it so far that I have noticed.

But yeah, we only noticed it as we have such a small pool of people getting
awarded it at this stage (only 6 or 7 people at a time).

There have been some people in the raid ineligible (have Casual as officer note
so they should be ignored)

This is obsoleted by the new epgp-6 master/slave architecture.
