That sounds interesting - though I guess the dwell timer on a cell should reset after a short time of being browsed out of - e.g. half a second? I am wondering if our set up for a child (with Communicator 5 and PC Eye Go) has the option to not reset a dwell time when the user gazes away from a cell - at the moment it always restarts if the user gazes out and back into the cell: not resetting could help when/if glints from his glasses make the device think he's moved to another cell.
Anyway, I'm not planning on doing any more work with this web-based eye gaze project - so if you/anyone finds anything useful from it - then they're welcome to have it.
What a lot of dwell software does is allows the user to restart the dwell from where it left off if they leave and then re-enter the cell within a period of time. For example:
a | b | c
dwell time for activation = 800ms user dwells in a for 500ms. Leaves to b for 30ms and then re-enters a. Dwell should restart at 500ms until 800ms is reached.
This should be configurable - and the default time set to be quite low.. (Obviously)!
Neil: Only parking this here as an idea.. hope you don't mind!(And watching this project as I'll try and do it myself at some point in the future!)
All the best
