the larp library one is already a PNG, and that hasn't caused any problems. here's a PNG version of the other two:
Changing all of them to PNGs is the right answer, but is from the wrong question. The real questions are -- what assets do these PNGs come from, and where are those assets managed? That is, where do the (presumably) Photoshop files exist, who manages them, and who pushes the generated PNGs out to all the necessary places when the asset changes?
For the short term, it's mind-numbing but easy to change the references over to the PNG files. (Yes, there will be a static site generator before too long.) Once the references are changed, the longer term solution is for some kind of button for the Art team, that they press/gets pressed when the (presumably) Photoshop files are checked into the asset control system. (We do have these under some kind of content management control, right?) Ideally, we wouldn't have to do anything more. Even if the assets are just copied to the right places and checked in, or just sent out in an email message, that would make it easier to keep these images in sync with their other uses.
So, I will take on the change to make the navigation references use the PNG images.
There's currently a very plain "Intercon T" 200x100px gif image referenced (indirectly) through a generic name. Dave gave me an Intercon U image, but it's a png. So, there are two options:
If we change the U image to png, we probably want to change the other three images to pngs as well. I'm discussing this with a member of the art team, to find the right path forward.
