The Clear button is... unclear. Until now I had no idea what to do with it,
but someone sent me a suggestion; in french, make it "marquer comme vu"
(which means "Mark as viewed"). This is similar to mail clients, however
they usually say "mark as read" instead of "mark as viewed" (which sounds
kind of strange no?

Please discuss :)

i don't see anything strange to that.  On the contrary, it seems quite obvious 
to me
(but to be honest, i must admit that i'm the one who made that suggestion ;-)

I saw with pleasure in issue 96 some changes in the UI in 
development branch : what about this issue ?

There is something that kind of annoys me: the button would be huge. Usually, 
buttons
are supposed to be one or two words. So I'm still unsure about all this and 
would
need more than one advice.

i suppose that we could let the "Clear All" button in the pane and propose 
"mark as
viewed/seen" option in context menu (see Evolution behaviour)

Yeah I guess it would be possible as long as we don't have an individual clear 
button
anymore (only "Clear all" in the toolbar). I'd like Wout's comment on this 
before

No more individual clear button?
So the one in the right-click menu and in the edit menu has to be removed?
If this is the case then i don't accept this proposal...but i think i 
misunderstand
the proposal.
So could somebody make tell me what will be changed, removed and added?

comments 1 to 4 : concerning the label of these buttons, you should keep the 
same for
the differents buttons :
if the pane shows a "clear all button" you should have an option that say 
"clear" or
"clear this item"
whereas if the pane shows a "Mark all as viewed/seen" you should have an option 
that
say "Mark as viewed/seen"

Considering the matter of the button size, you should maybe keep the "clear" 
label
instead of the "mark as viewed/seen"

finally, i would propose to show in the pane a "clear all" button and to have a
"clear" or "clear this item" option in context menu
