If Gource could provide a way to weight nodes (size? focus?) based on activity, 
it would provide a means for identifying problem files.

This. Adds. Usability. +1.
Every time a file changes increase its weight.
Same for users.

I have a project of a relatively constant number of regularly growing files. 
However in Gource, currently, only creating new files looks really impressive ;)

So, especially determining the weight by the number of code lines might be 
interesting.

+1 Would be great to see visualisation of lines of code or file size, using 
maybe radius of circle, transparency or some other special effects.
