Buying "Professional" (*Expensive*) Software? (Adobe Premier/After Effects & AutoCAD) #488

Historically, I have avoided spending money on Software for two reasons: a) I think all software should be Open Source and it pains me to buy anything closed-source! ⛔️
b) Commercial (closed-source) software is a massive money grab; either they have a subscription model or require regular paid upgrades. 💸

Adobe Creative Suite

Adobe make some of the best "creative" software. I learned/used Photoshop, InDesign and illustrator for most of my work from 2005 - 2010, and it really was the "best tool" for the job. Nothing in Open Source came close to the power & UX of Adobe's creative suite.

_Note: I have paid for Adobe in the past but I did not use it enough to justify the monthly cost! If I was using the software commercially, $53/month would be quite reasonable, but since I'm only using it for my 1h/week video hobby it feels a bit "steep"_.

AutoCAD

Most if not all "Professional" engineers, architects and product designers use AutoCAD. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AutoCAD https://www.autodesk.co.uk/products/autocad/overview

I've used SketchUp https://www.sketchup.com (free version) for my 3D Drawings e.g: image

Note: I don't expect to be creating drawings in AutoCAD, but I do need to open/view .dwg files created by other people so that I can reply/comment on their work. I've tried downloading a "viewer" and it was useless

Laptop with Software ?

Last time I needed a piece of "Closed Source" Software I searched ebay for it ...

Software Installed

The Apple Macbook Pro is Pre-loaded with the Latest Mac OS X High Sierra and the most popular Multimedia Software.

Software Installed:-
Mac is Running Mac OS X High Sierra 10.13.4
Adobe CC Collection
Adobe Premier Pro
Apple Logic Pro X
AutoCad
Cubase
Cinema 4D R18
Garageband
Final Cut Pro X
Microsoft Office
QuarkXpress
etc etc

Plus a Whole Load of Apple, Logic, iZotope, Waves, Audio Plugins, Sounds and Samples etc...
(no disc's included).

So grab yourself a bargain for only £450

Worst-case Scenario: I sell the MacBook Pro at a small loss e.g: £300 (so I "lose" £150) (which would be a bargain for the next owner!) But I keep all the software on a backup drive.

Am I missing something?

I contacted the seller to confirm that the Software is working on the latest MacOS and he replied: image
