Today I find myself having to edit and "AI" generated image (for work) don't have time to waste on "cloud" tools so I've downloaded the latest GIMP
and following YT tutorials ...

(On a Computer with a fresh Operating System i.e. without Photoshop, illustrator, etc.) I need a way of editing images/graphics so that I can communicate an idea visually (that would take many words to convey).
I have used the free App Paintbrush https://paintbrush.en.softonic.com/mac in the past, and it's mostly OK for the basic edits I need to make such as drawing "boxes and arrows" but it often freezes or blocks "undo" functionality, which means I have to close the app and start over resulting in lost time/effort.
Gimp ("GNU Image Manipulation Program") https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIMP is a "power tool" for editing images. It's "overkill" for most simple edits, But I feel that having "fluency" in the controls is going to be useful when I need to do something a bit more complex/advanced, so I'm biting the bullet and reacquainting myself with it!
The most recent version is a "Native Build" which means it should run smoothly on OSX without X11 https://www.gimp.org/downloads/
I downloaded it directly as I don't have a Torrent program on this computer ...
Return to the Gimp "cannot open" warning and click "OK", now in the preferences window:
You will see an "Open Anyway" button. Click it.
Are you sure?
Click "Open"!
Wow ... that was a lot of hoops to jump through!
Also ... tool overload
