link to guidelines is broken -- https://github.com/nemild/hack-an-engineer/blob/master/contributing.md

may want to put the important 'rules' into the body of the content itself

--

'Key questions to ask with any media:' appears to be a checklist basically

--

what is your goal? the type-kind of material/content you are making is already all over the web

i've done many versions of this basic thing you're doing when it comes to the topic of 'information' and 'the quality of info'

--

i think if you're making a full checklist

for example nobody is going to tell you

--

so i'd imagine w/e you're making here you'd want it to be HELPFUL/USEFUL

currently as it is, i can tell you right now it is not

Apologies for the delay. Thanks for flagging the broken link, it should be fixed.

My goal is to educate people to the forces that shape the media that is created and distributed. A common mistaken fallacy is that media is a mirror of the world, when in reality it is a mirror of what people want to read/hear. Even many great journalists or social media barons don't understand the effects that shape what media content is created and distributed.

I am not looking to make a checklist. The goal is to provide examples of "bias" so people can draw their own judgments and conclusions. You're right that many resources on this topic exist, and that's ok. My unique bent is that 1) it's directed at engineers, and 2) I try to include primary sources and sometimes original data analysis. As a college journalist and an electrical engineer, I also liken journalism to sampling which is a unique lens that others may not approach it from.

I do appreciate your comments, and if there are tangible ways you would like to contribute, I am always interested to hear.
