It's rare that I trigger it myself. However I have seen this several times, when I have my friends try out solving a task. So it is a serious problem.
If you tap on one of the test pairs, then the drawing canvas takes up the entire screen estate, so there is no way to get out of the edit mode. The only way to get out is page reload and loss of data.
