From IDS - "Items are a type of asset but refer to time bound assets such as job adverts, conferences, announcements, call for proposals. We are not doing much with these content types at the moment and they’re not being exposed via the API – this is something we are looking at over the next 6 months though."

So in current scope, we're dealing with document assets I think, and can leave the others aside, but might visit them in future iterations.
