Currently the node tree only shows nodes of type TYPO3.Neos:Document and this makes sense in most cases.
But often there's a requirement for "global meta nodes" that currently can't be navigated to via the node tree.
For example a global category tree:
Currently this can be achieved by making the category node type a sub-type of document and putting category nodes into the regular tree (e.g. as sub-nodes of a hidden container document: "/sites/mysite/categories/category-1").
Technically it's already possible to put nodes outside* of the *sites-tree, for example "/categories/category-1".
The node tree should allow for switching the main mode* from sites to *categories in this case and then show the full category tree exclusively.
