Sentence 003 / 10-2: following page 446 of CGEL (post-head modifiers), we're going to treat "of June 10, 1958" as a post-head modifier. See examples in 14[i]: a woman [of great wisdom], a school [of this type].
See also p. 659 ("Other functions of PPs"): the best novelist of her time: the of-PP is analyzed is Mod in NP structure
Re: Sentence 013: let's not treat parens as punct. (f)
is a token.
So for Sentence 013: (f)
is part of the sent
line (and the parentheses are not spaced off from the f
).
I have fixed most of them, which were problems with the
sent
metadata line (missing gaps or gaps not notated as--
).2 validation issues remain:
sentence 003 / 10-2 tree the of-PP with a date is given as a Comp under NP rather than under Nom. Are we sure this is correct? It does seem to be the case that of-PPs can extend what would ordinarily be a complete NP (John Smith of Cleveland, Ohio). But in SIEG I don't see such PPs listed as a kind of external modifier (p. 131).
sentence 013: "subsection ( f )" are we treating parens as punct? If so they should be removed from the
sent
line.
