I'm not sure if dimming the blinking lights are really needed - but I may be wrong.
There's this picture from Cassini showing earth from Saturn (the brightest blue dot somewhat below the rings):

But there's also this other picture from Voyager 1 showing Earth and Venus:

And on this last one, the camera was facing the Sun - so Planets, apparently, are still visible even with a bright source of light as a near planet or even the Sun.
Perhaps I should shrink the blinking lights related to the distance? I need to keep in mind that the blinking lights must cover the original Planet's image, so the blinking lights can't be smaller than whatever KSP draws there.
