@GFW-Report
First and foremost, thank you for your tireless efforts in combating censorship. Please know that your work is deeply appreciated, even by those who don’t know you personally.
I would also recommend adding sections for Persian (Farsi)
and Russian
, alongside Chinese. Censorship in these regions often follows similar patterns, and in some cases, it’s even more severe than in China. Expanding into these areas could greatly amplify the impact of your research.
Thanks again for all the hard work—you’re making a real difference!
Hi @Phoenix-999 , thank you so much for your kind words.

This sounds like a great idea. Thank you for your suggestions. I will keep you posted.
We’re a team of anti-censorship researchers from Stanford University, University of Colorado Boulder, and GFW Report, investigating how people get around China’s Internet censorship system.
How do we know that you are not from the Chinese government and are researching loopholes so that you can patch them?

Hi @JonnyTech, @gfw-report has an established record of publishing papers supporting censorship circumvention efforts. You can find out more on their website: https://gfw.report.
If you're going to add Russia and Iran, you probably have to know that stanforduniversity.qualtrics.com blocks access from Russian IP addresses, and I imagine Iranian ones as well. It matters because a lot of Russians are currently using simple DPI circumvention tools instead of obfuscated tunnels, posting directly from their IPs, so any kind of survey will be useless with the block in place.

We’re a team of anti-censorship researchers from Stanford University, University of Colorado Boulder, and GFW Report, investigating how people get around China’s Internet censorship system. If you use VPN, proxies, and/or any censorship circumvention tools to get around the Great Firewall (GFW), it would be a huge help if you can fill out a short anonymous 5-min survey and assist us to better understand and improve the circumvention ecosystem. Our study has undergone review by the Stanford University Institutional Review Board (IRB). Please note that the survey is anonymous, and no personally identifiable information is collected. Thank you for your participation and support.
