  1. Uncage your inner beast and become a tauren druid with leatherworking.
  2. Unlock Elemental Leatherworking by doing Brumn Winterhoof's quest.
  3. Unlearn Elemental Leatherworking by talking to him again and using "I wish to unlearn Elemental Leatherworking."
  4. Understandably, it's now gone from your spellbook, but try speaking to him or other specialty trainers (like Se'Jib) and you won't see any option to learn their specialty.
  5. Undergo the relogging process, and the Elemental Leatherworking skill should be back in your spellbook after logging in.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to test alchemy until undertaking an instance quest, but from past experience believe it will have a similar (or worse where you can unfairly learn 2 specialties) problem.

Same deal when trying to unlearn weaponsmithing. Pressing accept when confirming your choice of abandoning your specialization does nothing: you don't lose any recipes, you don't lose the ten gold, nothing.

Switching between axe/sword/mace spec worked fine when I tested it a while back, however.

That's a bit different than leatherworking. It actually takes the 100 gold, removes the recipes, and says "You have unlearned Elemental Leatherworking." You just can't learn anything else after it and relogging gives the elemental mastery skill back.

I just tested alchemy and it was almost the same as leatherworking, but the trainers will teach you their specialties as long as you don't log off first. I couldn't get double specialties like I've seen before, but maybe the learning order matters or there's some other trick to it.

  1. Learn alchemy as a horde person.
  2. Talk to Apothecary Antonivich to get the transmutation quest.
  3. Finish the quest at Zarevhi to become a transmutation master.
  4. Talk to him to unlearn it. The 150 gold will be taken and Transmutation Master will be removed from the spellbook.
  5. Relog and you'll have Transmutation Master in the spellbook again.
  6. Unlearn it again, then talk to either Luaranna Thar'well or Lorokeem to become a potion or elixir master.
  7. Relog, and you'll have just the potion or elixir mastery.
  8. Unlearn that, relog, and then you'll be a transmutation master again.
