The Corrupted Ashbringer gives you (as it should) the "Ashbringer" buff.
Sometimes, even wielding such sword, tho, you won't get the buff till you unequip/reequip the sword.
Not sure about how to reproduce it, but I think after using HearthStone you won't get the buff.
Another issue is that this buff (Ashbringer) puts you in combat with "neutral" mobs or dummies, even doing nothing at all. Not sure if this is correct.
I tried to walk inside Scarlet Monastery too, but mobs are not becoming friendly to the wielder, nor they're kneeling...aka, the SM-Ashbringer event is not working.
