Mechanics

For the mechanics point of view, it requires the decision of the CPU board and LCD and battery in order to finish, but to start playing with it we require the following decisions:

• Will we like it to be a GameBoy replica (for nostalgics) or a minimalist PSP-like layout?
• How many buttons should it have to support the required emulators? Short term Chip/Superchip/Gameboy. We may have exactly the same ones as the Game Boy or have more options like the PAD + Start + A + B + C + D + Start + Select (like SuperNintendo) to be able to handle more complex emulators.
• Will it have a micro USB connector for an internal rechargeable battery (through battery pack) or will it have regular batteries?.

On second point Igor and I agreed on: PAD + Start + A + B

I write my point of view on the questions:

• I don't care about the layout, although Unai preferred it to be a GameBoy replica. Anyways, I think this decision must be taken by taking into account the size of the Arduino Due board, the LCD used and the shield for connecting them. Depending on the layout of the full board + shield + lcd it maybe too wide to fit into a classic Gameboy replica, so I think this decision is up to the mechanic designer, once we decide the LCD screen that we are going to use.
• I agreed with Asier on these buttons: PAD + Start + Select + A + B, which are the same that the classic Gameboy has. This is because with the Arduino Due we are not going to be able to emulate more complex systems like the Super Nintendo, which is were the X + Y and even L + R start to make sense.
• My opinion is that it should have a rechargeable battery with a Micro USB connector, and not regular batteries. Nowadays it's common to have Micro USB chargers everywhere due to the smartphone usage, so I think that nowadays this is quite standard and comfortable for the users.
