sorry for not sharing this before. We discussed a bit parts of this in the past... nutd is upsd Gen2, with plugins and more. I've started to share some info: https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/wiki/NUT-3.0-&-new-architecture

@clepple, @balooloo, @zykh: please dump your comments, ideas, considerations so that we have a quite exhaustive view on what we want to achieve.
