Thanks. Nothing like breaking compatibility! Haven't been staying up wih this, it's a work project and unfortunately I've had to focus on other things. Check back in a couple weeks; I'll see what I can do.

Cool. I don't know where to really begin else I'd dig in. I couldn't find much on the changes since the beta release was on Mar 31. I think the format they are taking for plugins makes more sense and is cleaner at least. Enables them to make it more friendly to the end user.
Any progress at all on this?
yes i also waiting for that :+1:

OK. I'm going to try and figure out how to update this to work with 3.0. Thanks for the bumps. I have to go do some R'ing of TFM :)

Have you already got an idea about how much work it is to update the plugin for Grafana 3? And if so, when do you think can we expect a version for testing?

Well, I don't code(little bit), but I would think it'll take him a while. I heard 3.0s API was a complete rewrite

Completely rewritten, it seems. Everything seems to use this typescript shit. I recall reading a very short blurb which basically sounded like all one needs to do is change one line in the datasource.js file and the plugin.js file and boom! but no. ...and of course i cannot find that page now. In fact, I can't really find anything for that matter that wholly describes the changes. Perhaps real developers figure this shit out easily and an idiot like me has to deal, but there's clearly more going on than I read 6 months prior.
In other words, I'm going to mess around with some examples from the 3.0 source and see if i can get something working. I'll probably use the zabbix-grafana plugin as inspiration and hopefully since my plugin is ridiculously simple, it shouldn't be terribly difficult.
I appreciate everyone's support and continued interest, and as it is in my own interest to upgrade my own installation from version 2.6 to 3.1, I'll try not to let everyone down :)

Thanks neuralfraud, I was trying to update it myself, even to the point of learning JS. But I found it so confusing just to even boilerplate and get a basic version of it importing and tested.
Thanks again for looking into this, really appreciate it.
Thanks Neuralfraud, I know you have other things going on but the community appreciates it! I'd love to see a version working with grafana 3.0+.
Hi neuralfraud . I'm so dependent on this plugin.. so im not upgrading to Grafana ver3 yet. hope it will happen soon
I would be willing to put some money towards getting this done
Ok guys. I am actually getting somewhere. I wonder how other people manage to maintain an active project - they must not have lives! :)
I'm working with Grafana 3.1. I've had to actually be a developer and install developer tools like go, and grunt and npm and bleh. They lied about the "easy to develop" part, because It was far easier, as a hacker, to make a plugin for 2.5 but I digress.
Not that anyone cares, but for me the challenge is understanding why many of the coding changes are necessary, and actually using ECMAScript 6 code which implements classes and other things that Grafana likes to see.
I'll try to update this issue over the weekend and let everyone know how it's going. Right now it looks like i'll have two branches, for 2.5 and for 3.x
At this point I'm only focusing on making a datasource plugin, but if that ends up going well I will try to evolve that into an app, which can then incorporate its own dashboards, panels and other nice things.
I have no idea who people email to get their plugins published on the Grafana plugin repository feed, but maybe I can do something similar. In order to let grafana install the plugin, I need to publish a JSON file with information on it, which is easy enough, and could be hosted here - so hopefully it'll work where you just run the grafana-cli command and everything happens automagically.
Thanks everyone for your patience and support!
@nerdbaggy I don't know if I could accept money for this, it's an admittedly low-effort project on my part (I know that sounds terrible right?) but let's see how my work progresses over the weekend. If this plugin ends up helping you, or your business then perhaps you could recommend it to your colleagues. Of course, if your the type with deep pockets, and you wanted to say, send me a newer laptop, I might not argue (I develop on a thinkpad w520 which is getting old, but its a powerhouse, so I can't really blame my laptop!)
Just reading that last reply made me laugh.
But anyways, I hated that change from 2.x to 3.x and I lost all understanding of it.

I'm publishing a commit to a new branch "3.0" which works with Grafana 3.1. I've not extensively tested it however. I was able to create some graphs and get the data to show up, so that's a good enough starting point for me.
Thank you Neuralfraud .
The plugin API for 3.0 has changed. This makes this plugin non-functional past 2.6 in its current state. The plugin needs to be revised to support 3.0.
