"can i see a feature map, eg, for degree distribution?"
what he means is: for graphs where vertices are attributed with 2D or 3D location,
he wants to see the graph embedded in physical space, with color/size of dots informative with regard to a particular 'glocal invariant', such as vertex degree.

note that the guys from oculus tiles made us something that we could perhaps build off for the big mr graphs: http://aperturetiles.com/brain-graph/ and http://aperturetiles.com/brain-graph2/ the 2nd one used louvain and then a graph layout alg.
