Automatically mapping binary neuron image to .swc trace

For my senior project:

I would like to program a way to take a binary neuron image and convert it to a swc trace automatically. Includes: performing experiments (including mapping a swc trace to a binary image and then trying to reverse it), finding literature that outlines how others have tried to accomplish the same thing, writing an abstract on my process

hey @mlemyco are there any links or results you could put here that indicate your progress on this issue? Since you are no longer working on this i'm thinking of closing this issue, but want to first give you an opportunity to post results.
