I removed all atlases from the repo and the history and its 735MB
The reason for the size isn't an atlas thing: There is a compressed history file in .git/objects/pack that is > 500MB large
Is it possible that the history is for large binary files that no longer exist? That was my problem, which I solved with the link I put on gitter.
Best, Will

We solved the issue after a mere 4 hours. The repo is about 19MB now. I hate git history, but still love you git. It would be best if everyone re-cloned the repo. This is an amazing tool we picked up along the way: https://rtyley.github.io/bfg-repo-cleaner/
