question: Does each modality have specific web services? #1

Visiting http://docs.neurodata.io/ndstore displays "Open Connectome Project Web Services". Do other modalities like the "Open Synaptome Project" have specific web services?

The url segment ndstore would signify the place that describes the web services for all scales?

Perhaps Open Connectome came before neurodata? Is neurodata.io the newer parent organization connecting all these services/projects together?

exactly, OCP (open connectome project) came first, neurodata is the newer parent organization. we are phasing out all mention of "open connectome project", for a variety of reasons, namely:

  1. people are scared by the word "open", they feel like their data must be open, which is not the case.
  2. people are scared by the word "connectome", they feel like we only host/provide services for connectome data, which is not true.

So, with the new website, i hope we will have "NeuroData's Connectome Project" (which houses all the electron microscopy (EM) data), "NeuroData's Synaptome Project" (which houses all the array tomography (AT) data).

all services are the same across different modalities, in theory, although there are some special things for certain modalities. eg, for synaptomes, we will soon unleash a "synaptogram" service, which will only work for multi-channel data

@kunallillaney / @Aeusman can you please remove all mention of "Open Connectome Project" from the docs asap? in fact, the title of http://docs.neurodata.io/ndstore/ might be more accurately:

ndstore Web Services: Scalable database cluster for the spatial analysis and annotation of high-throughput brain imaging data

yah?
