Compression latch has mid-air features #52

Open m-schubert opened 1 month ago

I'm having a lot of print failures on the compression latches. There are a few layers in there that are expected to be printed in thin air (not bridged). Any hints? Should I be using supports?

I'm using SuperSlicer, 0.25mm first layer, 0.2mm layers from there.

These mid-air features are intentional. They're print-in-place hinges and seams. In order to get this to work, I changed my first layer height to 0.2mm.

@kellybyrd, yeah, I understand they're print-in-place. If it were a bridging feature with a small breakaway I think it'd work great. In this case, though, it's trying to print a pretty decent "cantilevered" section in thin air. At least for my attempts, it's failed on 3/3 hinges.

If I change the first layer to 0.2mm, I still get the floating layer.

Anything else I might be missing?

Agree the slice will look the same with 0.2 first layer. What I meant was this:

I had all the latches fail several times, with 0.25 first layer using SuperSlicer. I tried several different fixes, brims, more squish, slower printing speeds, etc. I changed the first layer height to 0.2 and they all succeeded
