I have a solution using the bootstrap_drow_down_button style but it leaves a problem. This creates a POST form for the items instead of a link so it will fail out. It needs logic found in 7e2c6bb to create links instead.

However, the 'selected' item still turns into a form and needs the same logic. But I believe the 'new item' button uses the same button template and doesn't have a 'title' parameter. This is where I left it.

The solution I have works if we can just filter out the new button behavior
