In Norf's latest post, he outlines a variety of new features.

One such feature he mentioned was the complimentary credits over time.

Improvements that are mentioned are:
g_freeKillPeriod cvar defines the time in minutes in which credits are 
awarded (defaults to 2 minutes)

Also, the timer does NOT reset with death or earning credits from other 
sources.
