Make a release #2

Since we have our own fork now, we can cut a release and finally get https://github.com/newsboat/stfl/commit/7b9f793ba239ca14025c9892ee412b4433126d62 and https://github.com/newsboat/stfl/commit/0cc16e7d2784d3946c2da6cb83c78abe8dbc975c into distributions.

3 has been closed, so I don't see any blocker.

https://clifford.at/stfl is back up, but their SVN isn't. I'm down with COVID right now, but once I've got my energy back, I'll shoot them an email to ask what are their plans regarding the project — I don't want to make a release if the original author plans to keep the project alive at their site.

"Back up", lol. From what it looks, the domain expired and has been pointed elsewhere by a spammer (did you overlook the generic Wordpress site containing gambling nonsense?). If you edit your /etc/hosts to point svn.clifford.at the old IP address, you can download from SVN.

I've emailed the author a week ago and got a mail delivery error for mail.clifford.at. Looking at historical MX data, the mail server is also used by http://entladung.net/ so that may be how to get ahold of them. Best of luck. Maybe snail mail will do, lol.

edit: To clarify, the info@entladung.net address points at mail.clifford.at, so it fails with the same error. Snail mail it is. Or making your own releases.

https://clifford.at/stfl is back up, but their SVN isn't.

It looks like the svn repo and stfl overview page are still available via https://svn.clairexen.net/stfl/ and http://bygone.clairexen.net/stfl/ (although links seem to be hardcoded towards the broken svn.clifford.at)

From what it looks, the domain expired and has been pointed elsewhere by a spammer

I'm not sure what's going on there. It's a strange mix of the original content (easily reachable via the top-menu), mixed with the shady-looking gambling-related links/articles. Not exactly what I'm used to when a domain has been taken over after expiration, but also not exactly what I would expect from the author of these kinds of libraries.

Huh. This seems a bit more complicated than expected. Looking at http://bygone.clairexen.net/ it appears that Clifford Wolf transitioned to Claire Wolf and that clifford.at (established 1998, changed January 2020 to Claire Wolf) has been replaced with bygone.clairexen.net (established 2021 according to archive.org). The spam website confusingly refers to a Claire Clifford. Yes, some links are broken on the replacement site, but it does very much look like an incomplete migration of the old one. There's a gmail address on there that could be used for getting in contact with the author.

I sent an email to the GMail address, explaining the situation and asking if they'd point to this repo from https://clifford.at/stfl

Immediately got an autoreply about the address change, so emailed the new private address instead.

What's the status here? I'd really appreciate to have a release to try to get this into Arch Linux. Here's the according Arch issue
