Project Proposal: State of the Union Addresses.

So I lied I am changing it to state of the union addresses Personally I have a love for history and the different ways that history has been recorded. When looking at American history one of the annual forms and records of this history is the the Presidential state of the union address. Within these I believe it will be interesting to look at the pressing needs of a country at the time, but also too look at them through the lens of time to see what issues fizzled out through history and what issues are still relevant to this day either as popular history or as part of society today. In addition to the historical approach it could also be interesting to look into the change in linguistics over time having been done annually for so long you could track changes in word choices over time or even structure of sentences. Overall I think this option provides a multitude of different ways to go about looking at a project.

Goals of project

• Track issues hidden in the speeches
  • War -Voting
  • Etc.

Do some kind of sentiment analysis based on presidents birth pace, party affiliation, state of origin and things along this nature.
