Location does not work in ODK Collect #199

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open any survey with a location/GPS capture field on a Huawei Ideos U8150
running Android 2.2
2. Go to that field and click "Record location"
3. The GPS turns on but no coordinates are returned.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
A set of GPS coordinates is expected. Instead it says "Please wait a few
moments" perpetually. No coordinates are included in subsequent synced entries.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
ODK collect 1.1.5 on Android 2.2

Please provide any additional information below.

Capturing GPS coordinates is a key function, so resolution of this will
determine our ability to use ODK Collect. Thanks!

Reproduced on April 14 2011 using ODK collect 1.1.5 on cyanogen-mod 7.0.0 /
Android 2.3 on HTC Desire HD Inspire 4G. Two different self-made forms (ODK
build) with "location" fields hang saying "please wait a few moments".
Edit 29.4.2001: this happened indoors out of GPS satellite reception but
connected to Wifi. Device could determine (rough) location using wifi/ip lookup
in other apps like google maps, which I would have expected to be used in ODK.
Location from GPS worked fine outdoors, although it sometimes takes up to 60
sec for the first fix, even if GPS was already turned on.

It would be desirable for indoors data capture if ODK Collect could get the
location from any source, even if it's only a rough IP lookup, especially since
accuracy is recorded alongside.

David, were you outside with a clear view of the sky when you tried this?

Florian, Collect 1.1.5 only attempts to use GPS. We had several reasons for
disabling location over wifi, but now that we have the ability to do accuracy
we'll enable all location services in the next release, Collect 1.1.7, due out
in mid May.
