Is this immediately upon trying to launch?
Does the splash screen show?

immediately on launch. no splash screen shows up. it's gotta be something
specific to my computer because carl's seems to work.

I'll upgrade to the latest BitRock version and generate a new installer.
There were some "osx graphics glitches" fixed recently; hopefully that is what
is happening.

Verified that this happens with a very simple installer.

attached is the BitRock installer definition.
The files tree looks like:

files/conf/common/junk.xml
files/gae/common/junk.xml
files/mf/META-INF/MANIFEST.MF

(it is building a jar using zip).

This is a BitRock issue apparently related to the fonts installed on the box.
