ownCloud release 2.3.3 available #202

The ownCloud client release 2.3.3 is available since 6 days and the Nextcloud themed version is still on 2.3.2. Please release a new Nextcloud themed version as soon as possible, because 2.3.2 has a really annoying bug ( https://github.com/owncloud/client/issues/5855 ).

dennis-eisen commented 6 years ago

Same here: 2.3.2 has the bug, OwnCloud Client 2.3.3 (MacOSX) works just fine and as accpected!

Also, when 2.3.3 is to be released, I hope that issue #198 will be resolved, so that I don't have to explain to my users why the official Nextcloud client can't work with a properly secured (TLS 1.2 enforcing) Nextcloud server.

dennis-eisen commented 6 years ago

@Tsuroerusu It's really strange to me, that the ownCloud fork which brags with more security, ... has a non working desktop client, because of a properly secured server.

I hope, that there will be a working nextcloud client for Mac OS X soon. Come on folks, this is so annoying Nextcloud team!

Are there any plans to release 2.3.3 soon? owncloud/client#5855 is driving me crazy and 2.3.3 has the fix for it. It's been available for a really long time now.

The sync issue was causing some problems for a project I'm working on, so I tried to build an updated version of the Windows binaries myself (see PR #206). It is unwise to download random unsigned installers from strangers over the internet, but if you are a Windows user so inclined, here's the build I made of 2.3.3; it is not an official release with a build number so the auto-updater may not know when to pull the "real" one when it is produced officially.

This has worked to sync all the files that were giving me the "Precondition Failed" errors and seems to be functioning as expected, but additional testing would be useful, as would someone being able to replicate my build steps.

So what exactly is the issue which keeps the 2.3.3 release from happening?

Lack of time I guess.

+1. I have same problem and waiting the 2.3.3 release. I hope it'll come soon such as it's very annoying and block me in few projects.

An If-Match header was specified and the resource did not exist

i'm having this as well

brjhaverkamp commented 6 years ago

Im very interested in a permanent solution for this as well. For the moment, moving the files out of my local Nextcloud directory, let it simmer for 5 minutes and than add them back seems to be a temporary workaround. But I am encountering this reasonable frequently now, so please update if there is a known solid solution for this.

derkostka commented 6 years ago

For the time being, moving to the owncloud client solves it. ... .. .

Tsuroerusu commented 6 years ago

Does anyone know when v2.3.3 of the Nextcloud client will be available? I see that this issue is closed, does that mean it is on its way or?

tsmith512 commented 6 years ago

@ivaradi helped me get an updated client built in #206, if you're able you can build from that branch to get a working version.

István, do you know when this will be posted to the website? https://nextcloud.com/install still lists the broken version. I'm happy to help out with that if there's a process for it that I can follow?

jonasdumas commented 6 years ago

As it seems to have no solution that worked for me. I've removed v2.3.2 and installed back the previous 2.2.4 version and everything works fine now. FYI, here's the link to previous versions: https://download.nextcloud.com/desktop/releases/Mac/Installer/

For those who didn't notice, Nextcloud client 2.3.3 is finally available since a week or so.

BjoernSch commented 6 years ago

And now ownCloud is at 2.3.4 I hope the process is now better defined...

Ricardosgeral commented 6 years ago

why the client doesn't update automatically?

For some reason the version in the PPA (https://launchpad.net/~nextcloud-devs/+archive/ubuntu/client) is still 2.3.2. :(
