I saw that the upcoming photo app 2.0 can (better?) tile photos and wondered if this could be used by Collectives somehow to get an automatic gallery-style view of pictures or of an album. A bit like Collectives uses features found in the text app.

Hey Thorsten,

Thanks for your feature request. We are currently working on embedding other objects from within Nextcloud in Text and therefore in collectives. That sounds like something you are describing here.

At first I was thinking about inserting the images as a list of image links - and rendering any list of image links as a gallery. But integrating with photos seems to make more sense here. So i think the markdown of the collective page would just contain a link to the photos album for example. In collectives and text this link would then be expanded.

How would you imagine the photos to render in the page? What would you do if there are many photos in the Album?

Thanks for picking this up.

How would you imagine the photos to render in the page?

I'd imagine photos from albums to be automatically arranged like tiles, as the photo app 2.0 does. This would make stuff look neat right from the get-go. In the website CMS of a society I am a member of, we don't have a gallery so I have to edit images to make them fit some sort of raster, which is really annoying and a lot of work. That could be avoided by using the tiled view of Photos 2.0.

What would you do if there are many photos in the Album?

Have a sensible/configurable set of photos with a clickable pagination underneath. Maybe 5 by 5? The idea is to always stay on the collective page and not be, say, directed to the album in Photos if there are more than X pictures. Does this help?

If you have any more questions or need a testerm please feel free to get in touch.
