Confirm this errant behavior on Ventura 13.2.1 on Macbook Pro. No icon and I can't get sync to work (possibly related to setup which can't be accessed without icon).

kangaroo72 commented 1 year ago

Sadly it works on an 14" MBP with 13.2.1 and not on 16". Actually I have downgraded my 16" to Monterey due other issues (non Nextcloud related). The tool xbar also had no icon in Ventura.

kangaroo72 commented 1 year ago

Can someone check 3.7.4 on Macbook Pro 16" M1 with Ventura? I'm actually on Monterey.... @ifuchs which book do you have?

ifuchs commented 1 year ago

I have the 14" MBP. Nextcloud Desktop seems to be working (at least for the past hour) after the latest update. Keeping finger crossed.

kangaroo72 commented 1 year ago

Thx for that quick update. I have a 14" AND a 16" M1. On the 14" the previous version worked for me on Ventura....

Steve8291 commented 1 year ago

Just found this issue on a Macbook Pro with Ventura. It only occurs if the Mac has an M1 chip. It does not happen on another Macbook Pro running Ventura and an Intel Core i5.

kangaroo72 commented 1 year ago

It seems, that only 16" Macbook Pro M1 is affected. I have both - 14" and 16". Due this issue, I have downgraded the 16" to Monterey and left the 14" on Ventura. The 14" M1 Macbook Pro has no problems. The icon is there. The same issue is with the tool "xbar" (https://xbarapp.com/) xbar works on 14" but not on 16" - what a crap.....

Steve8291 commented 1 year ago

I can also confirm that my Macbook Pro with the M1 and missing icon is also a 16". So strange.

kangaroo72 commented 1 year ago

I had the idea in mind, to check Ventura again on my 16"-Device to see, if it's working again. But when I read this, I will keep Monterey....

tikiss commented 1 year ago

I have just setup a MBP 16" with M2, OS is Ventura (Version 13.6 (22G120)) and Nextcloud has no icon. (Mac mini with M1, OS is the same as above, has no issue)

Update: Just Installed Bartender 4, and it shows the icon, most probably because of the camera island in the middle of the taskbar blocks new icons if it is full and the OS cannot show them and also not collect them. So in my opinion it is OS problem.

Any update on this bug? Any bug fix created yet since this bug was filed almost 10 months ago?

I re-installed several times to no avail. No icon on MacOS Ventura at least on a MBP with M2 chip.

It has been reported on Nextcloud forum here as well

@jackdeguest Did you read my comment? If not, just scroll up, in my opinion it is not a Nextcloud issue, so they have closed this topic.

Bartender 4 has been superseded by Bartender 5 which does not work under Ventura, at least on a M2.

The missing icon in the menubar is most definitely a Nextcloud bug. As I have mentioned in https://github.com/nextcloud/desktop/issues/6139 other app install fine with their icons in the menu bar... Using other helper app to compensate is a good idea to remediate this pitfall though

Stop lying. I closed other issue as you filed a duplicate. Nothing else.

I asked you for some details ... You have not provided the information and are looking for a confrontation here. The missing information ist most definitely a bug on your side 😄 .

jackdeguest commented 11 months ago

I really do not know why you are acting like this. Yes, you closed the other issue because you found it was a duplicate, although it states clearly there is no intention to fix it, and this same bug here has been filed 10 months ago, and still nothing. There is no missing information, I did all I could to troubleshoot the root cause of this bug, and it seems to be an issue with Nextcloud icon and Apple menu bar.

kangaroo72 commented 11 months ago

Dear all. Here an update from my side, 'cause I have raised this issue.... I have to Macbook Pro (M1 Pro) - One 14" and one 16". Only the 16" was affected. The issue wasn't resolved, but one day, I made an experience... I installed a new OS to a external M2. The internal was Monterey and the external was Ventura. What happened? The icon appeared!! Next step from my experience, I upgrade my Monterey to Ventura. The Icon also appeared. I don't know, what happened, but for me, the issue is solved. Maybe a reimage will also solve it for affected users...

One more time for you: This label is provided by GitHub. I have no influence to this label. Your issue was a dup.

I did all I could to troubleshoot the root cause of this bug

You never responded to this here: https://github.com/nextcloud/desktop/issues/6139#issuecomment-1852155714

jackdeguest commented 11 months ago

Yes, I tried everything like I told you, but to no avail.

I think other than that, Nextcloud to be a great product, but 10 months and no resolution in itself is a bit problematic to say the least.
