Notification "Add your profile information! Set a full name for..." repeat every hour in the client #346

Open AlexanderWillner opened 4 years ago

AlexanderWillner commented 4 years ago

Steps to reproduce

  1. Add additional server that has recently been setup to installed macOS Nextcloud client

Expected behaviour

The client notification "Add your profile information! Set a full name for..." should not be shown after the profile information has been added or after the notification has been dismissed in the client once.

Actual behaviour

The client notification "Add your profile information! Set a full name for..." is shown again and again every hour.

Mitigation

Even after all user information has been added, the notification pops up every hour. However, the issue is solvable by clicking on the analog notification in the web UI. After this, the client stops the notification as well. Might be related to https://github.com/nextcloud/firstrunwizard/pull/33.

Are you also seeing multiple notifications in the web interface?

AlexanderWillner commented 4 years ago

As far as I can remember, there was only one.

juliusknorr commented 4 years ago

@nextcloud/desktop Any idea about that? I don't see this happening with 2.6.4 of the desktop client but maybe there is something different in notification handling on macOS.

@AlexanderWillner Could you manually check the version of the nextcloud instance you are using by opening https://your.nextcloud.com/status.php ?

Certainly:

{
"installed":true,
"maintenance":false,
"needsDbUpgrade":false,
"version":"18.0.4.2",
"versionstring":"18.0.4",
"edition":"",
"productname":"Storage Share",
"extendedSupport":false
}

I don't see it either but indeed I can't test on macOS. @misch7 or anyone else with a Mac could you please test on your end?

Does this still happen with the latest Nextcloud and Desktop releases?

This notification still keeps popping up for me after every single restart, although I have set my full name in my profile information. It's super annoying and makes me want to quit using Nextcloud honestly.

@AlexanderWillner, you said

However, the issue is solvable by clicking on the analog notification in the web UI.

What does that mean? What is "the analog notification" and where do I find it exactly?

AlexanderWillner commented 9 months ago

This was a few days ago ;) I guess, it was about dismissing the notification not within the desktop client but within the web interface of your NextCloud instance instead.

This happens also on Linux (under Docker). Agree, it's really annoying. Status info:

{ "installed": true, "maintenance": false, "needsDbUpgrade": false, "version": "29.0.0.19", "versionstring": "29.0.0", "edition": "", "productname": "Nextcloud", "extendedSupport": false }

This is still happening to me, isn't there any way to solve it? Windows Nextcloud client V 3.13.2 Server: 29.0.4.1
