Your logging is going to syslog per your config. Can you provide the log entries from around the period when you updated the groupfolders app?
And also from a login session where you aren't able to access the folders in your root folder?
I was using my nextcloud yesterday (writing minutes of a meeting in Nextcloud Office) and suddenly the Brwoser told me that the file I am editing disappeared (or that I had insufficient rights).
How long after updating the groupfolders app did this occur?
When I opened the Nextcloud file browser in Firefox all my folders on the parent level were still there but empty.
Did you check to see if the contents of your users root folder are still in your datadirectory?

Then my Nextcloud client started to upload the files again.
I have no idea what happened. This has never happened to me in more then 6 years of using Nextcloud. When I login to another account who shared two folders with my personal account it say that "my personal account removed himself from the share". Since I made an Update of the Group Folders app and something happened with the shares I am reporting this here.

When I want to check the logs it says: "Keine Server-Log-Dateien - Alles funktioniert gut" " No Server Log - everything is fine"
