Does it backup mov file and heic/jpg to nextcloud server or only can animate live photo on app from phone storage?

marinofaggiana commented 4 years ago

it break up the photo in its two components heic or jpg and mov, then upload these on cloud

przerada commented 4 years ago

Ok, and if you delete this photo from phone and download from cloud to phone again is it works again like a live photo or you can only download jpg or heic?

marinofaggiana commented 4 years ago

You download the image and mov from Nextcloud and you can store it to photo album :

Worked! Great work, I really appreciate it.

I just check new version of this app and have few issues. If you upload Live Photo with HDR you have only picture on heic/jpg file without mov file, only Live Photo’s without HDR can be send as a live to cloud. Auto upload can upload Live Photo, we need to do it manually. When you uploaded Live Photo in your “Photo” folder on the cloud you see two files heic/jpg and mov, its ok to know what do you have there, but maybe it is the way to hide mov files that are only for the Live Photo, the best way will be to that in settings. And last thing, thanks for the great job, 3 or 4 years ago was the first post about Live Photo’s for Nextcloud, lot of comments on git in this topic, thanks for your work for the community 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

wranglatang commented 4 years ago

I really want to use nextcloud in place of Photos (iCloud) to avoid paying for the cloud storage that I have.

Will the addition of this functionality allow me to do that?

Those are amazing news! Looking forward to the 3.0 release. Great work folks!

somsocorcim commented 4 years ago

Hi guys, Really great work. Any timeframe for the official release? This feature is the only missing one to set up the Nextcloud I have always dreamt of 😉

Regards,

Improvements on Live Photo, now, the mov part is hide and is integrated in webDav DNA

Nextcloud 3.0 build 33

adutta98 commented 4 years ago

Thank you so much for bringing this feature @marinofaggiana .

I wanted to ask if the older pictures already uploaded will have the ability to be seen as live photos (I don't see that right now), My understanding was the the iOS app did upload the .mov files as well? Maybe I'm wrong, if its not doing so is it better to re-upload everything in the camera roll using the beta app so as to have this functional with older live photos. Thanks again.

jones1008 commented 4 years ago

It would also be useful if you could download it as a live photo into your gallery directly from the context menu of the file in a folder without having to open the image first. And also when trying to download multiple files as Live Photos... image

schmurtzm commented 4 years ago

This is really nice thank you for that ! May be live photo should be uploaded in a subfolder to avoid to transform the default "photos" folder in a mess 😅 ?

I hope that it will be supported by the default Nextcloud web client too in the futur... It's already hard to display heic in the correct way in the web client so I keep fingers crossed :D

bclnr commented 4 years ago

Is there a way to keep the Nextcloud auto-upload folder in sync with the Photos app camera roll? Currently when a photo is deleted from the Photos app, it is kept by Nextcloud.

sdalmeida commented 4 years ago

@marinofaggiana why does the app split the HEIC file? Why not upload the HEIC image without splitting it? One of the main reasons I'm not fully using Nextcloud is because the iOS app is splitting my HEIC images into .heic and .mov image

marinofaggiana commented 4 years ago

@sdalmeida You can disable the Live Photo in Advanced, so it doesn't extract the mov

I think it doesn't split anything, the apple live photo works like this : an image in HEIC with a separate .mov. It's just that on your iphone it doesn't expose the .mov but it exists (you can see it with a jailbreak ;) )

But agree to say that .mov could be uploaded in a separate "live" folder to avoird to transform the photo folder in a mess.

marinofaggiana commented 3 years ago

@schmurtzm can be a good alternative for the next version ..

Live Photos don't fully work for me (iPhone 12 Pro). Sometimes they get uploaded and show up as a live photo, and sometimes they don't upload and also don't show up in the app, just as regular photos. It just doesn't work. :-(

dukey commented 3 years ago

I opened a ticket on it a couple of month ago but there has been no acknowledgement of it.

From what I can tell, some camera modes work, some don’t. I think it has to do with the way a Live Photo is detected as the app doesn’t seem to know there is the video component to the photo. The non-video component gets uploaded properly.

I upload in original format and not jpeg.

I came here just because I was wondering about the new mov files in my photos folder. I agree that it would be great to save them in kind of a seperate location. That would also avoid the kinda broken photos view in nextcloud web (For each photo you have two preview images, the image itself and a play symbol for the mov file).

Yes, it would be a good idea, but difficult given the past.

Maybe it's an idea to just set a leading dot to the filename? That way these files would be hidden or at least have their own kind of sorting area.

sionicion commented 3 years ago

I've tried the auto upload feature and it doesn't upload the mov files. I've tried the compatibility setting both in iOS settings and in Nextcloud's settings, turning Live Photo on and off, etc. It will not upload the live portion of the pictures I'm taking. This is on iPhone 12 mini.

Edit: Just tested the latest build on TestFlight and it has resolved my issue!

AntonOellerer commented 2 years ago

Hey, has a solution for dealing with the mov part of the pictures on clients different from the ios one emerged?

In my opinion a .mov file should not be shown if there is an .heic file with the same name as the .mov file
