Nextcloud Document Storage setting #1509

What exactly is the Document Storage setting used for?

This is the message it shows

Stores documents only on this iPhone, and do not make them available on other devices

Does this mean we can choose the location of the Nextcloud data? But that doesn't make sense as the default option selected is Nextcloud.

This setting is located in Settings > Nextcloud > Document Storage

Default options are iCloud Drive, Nextcloud, and On My iPhone. It will show additional options depending on the apps you installed such as Google Drive, etc.

I would like to know this as well. Especially because I can choose Nextcloud in other apps as well. Does it mean that I can store their data in Nextcloud instead of iCloud or on device?

Did someone find out what it is used for? Searched a while on google, but did not found anything.

If I were to wager a guess, it sounds like it doesn't sync any files that exist on the devices storage, and only makes the files available on the cloud-hosted nextcloud instance available for the iOS device.

Access to the cloud, without sharing your local files to the cloud.
