Ability to search in Personal and Admin settings #1063

As there are more and more settings (as it goes …) the sidebar is a good filter mechanism. But even better would be if search would also work in the Personal and Admin settings.

You can see that work very nicely in Chrome settings search: chrome settings search The full text inside there gets searched and only the matching sections are displayed. We can do it just like that for the Personal and Admin settings.

Especially for the now newly separated pages this would be good since you can not use Ctrl-F anymore. cc @blizzz

Now we have unified search, and with it you can search for the sidebar categories like "security" or "theming". But this is not what would be helpful for me (see also Chrome or Firefox settings search - it is an actual filter for every keyword)

IMO the unified search should also index every word from every settings page, so that I can do this:

  1. I am looking for the "collaborative tags" settings
  2. I open unified search and type "tags"
  3. the search returns the heading "collaborative tags"
  4. I click on it and get redirected to the page basic settings > collaborative tags

@jancborchardt should I open a new pull request?

That would be great – the search should ideally be like we do it in Talk, Files and other areas:
