It could be a nice addition. I wouldn't choose an option, I'd rather prefer a link at the bottom of the floating bubble. By clicking it the results would be shown in the content panel.
I think that the designer team could consider this FR
Thinking again about this issue, I realized a possibly tricky element.
Let us suppose that I am in the files app, folder photos/Rome2018 .
I look for the string "foo" and the floating bubble opens.
I select the link at the bottom and I see the results in the content panel.
Now:
I think that the go back option should be provided, if this feature will be realized
cc @nextcloud/designers
Additionally would be nice:
Possibility to search with filters with the default search (for example only in the current folder and better ui if there is alot of results as the dropdown is not the best way for more then 100 results^^)
This issue has been automatically marked as stale because it has not had recent activity and seems to be missing some essential information. It will be closed if no further activity occurs. Thank you for your contributions.
My opinion is that having the possibility to load the search results in the content panel would make it easier to tackle other issues, like for example #27353
I think we have already an issue about it. It's not really like in the main content, but more like an enhanced Modal similar to MacOS's spotlight.
How to use GitHub
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I’m new to Nextcloud (trying to migrate from Google) and a problem that bothers me a lot is how the search results are shown. Currently they are shown in a small floating bubble which provides very few information on each result and makes it difficult to navigate through them.
Describe the solution you'd like It would be better to have an option to load the search results in content panel (like Discourse search).
Describe alternatives you've considered I’ve already took a look on the Full text search App but it requires an Elasticsearch installation. I don’t think I can install it on my provider (Cloudamo)…
