Hi, please update to 25.0.7 or better 26.0.2 and report back if it fixes the issue. Thank you!

My goal is to add a label like e.g. 26-feedback to this ticket of an up-to-date major Nextcloud version where the bug could be reproduced. However this is not going to work without your help. So thanks for all your effort!

If you don't manage to reproduce the issue in time and the issue gets closed but you can reproduce the issue afterwards, feel free to create a new bug report with up-to-date information by following this link: https://github.com/nextcloud/server/issues/new?assignees=&labels=bug%2C0.+Needs+triage&template=BUG_REPORT.yml&title=%5BBug%5D%3A+

I see this in 26.0.3, see my report linked above (which I submitted before I found this issue).

This bug has been plaguing us and causing mayhem. Seems to apply to events that have many participants (10-20). I am gathering information on a canceled appointment this morning. I have 2 people sharing 1 account (because of the calendar sharing bug that doesn't allow them to send email invites unless they are owner of calendar, uggg). User 1 is using Outlook plugin caldavsynchronizer and web gui. User 2 is macos (dav) and ios (dav) and web. I see in the "activity" app in NC that the shared user updated the event at 9:17 this morning. At 9:17 an email was sent to all participants that the event was canceled (I verified this from exim logs). Needless to say, the calendar event was not canceled.

This is the only PUT in that 60 second window (apache log): 76.127.55.146 - office [26/Jul/2023:09:17:49 -0600] "REPORT /remote.php/dav/calendars/office/shared/ HTTP/1.1" 207 17147 "-" "CalDavSynchronizer/4.4" 76.127.55.146 - office [26/Jul/2023:09:17:49 -0600] "PUT /remote.php/dav/calendars/office/shared/A1F336F3-2DB6-464F-BB85-42461E374715.ics HTTP/1.1" 204 685 "-" "CalDavSynchronizer/4.4" 76.127.55.146 - office [26/Jul/2023:09:17:49 -0600] "PUT /remote.php/dav/calendars/office/shared/F747180F-94FA-416E-9484-10AEBF9D8E04.ics HTTP/1.1" 204 598 "-" "CalDavSynchronizer/4.4" 76.127.55.146 - office [26/Jul/2023:09:17:52 -0600] "GET /remote.php/dav/calendars/office/shared/F747180F-94FA-416E-9484-10AEBF9D8E04.ics HTTP/1.1" 200 4241 "-" "CalDavSynchronizer/4.4"

I will disable this plugin and report back if problem goes away. Please let me know if you want anything from me. I have full access to server and can make any changes you recommend.

reos-rcrozier commented 1 year ago

I want to add that I am NOT using CalDavSynchronizer, and for me it happens for any number of participents. In fact, for this reason, and issues with Talk we've essentially decided to stop using the calendar altogether and use another solution.

It would be good to stop adding new features like AI and focus instead on fixing critical core stuff like this.

sitcsitc commented 1 year ago

Just reporting back. After disabling the caldavsynchronizer from outlook we haven't had anymore mystery cancelled events. Anyone have a clue about whats going wrong here? This is a real show stopper.

tofublock commented 9 months ago

Is anyone experiencing the problem using the Calendar backup feature in the Android app? It went away for me after I disabled that.
