To enable collaboration with other users in an SMB store, you can give a user the SMB share. This user must then "share" with the users they want to collaborate with. Once the user has shared the document or folder, the sharing occurs in the context of the user who gave the share.
The disadvantage of this workaround is that everything that happens with this share happens in the context of the user who shared it.

Those implementations are very complex, while it was done in ownCloud 10 (Enterprise only) for a full fledged solution you also would need a lock integration etc. those types of storage integration are very difficult to accomplish in an excellent way. There is a commercial solution called Nasuni which is able to do this coming with its own SMB stack ...

Bug description
I have nextcloud installed with VM script version, i have a Windows AD server linked with LDAP app and imported all users and groups with it. I mapped with External Storage the SMB folders with all permissions using "save credentials, store in database". When I open a file with collabora/text editor/onlyoffice it opens correctly and i can edit and save it...but if another LDAP user opens it and tries to collaborate with me it doesn't work and I cannot see him collaborate with me.
