7 months ago Let me join the discussion as well. There was a long professional discussion in regard of 2 different processes: uploading and downloading, read over here
Upload means literally when you are putting some data somewhere, putting upward movement which is relevant to the Ukrainian word "завантажити". Compare it when you are uploading a truck with coal "завантажуєте машину вугіллям".
At the same time, downloading means when you are getting something from somewhere, which is equal in Ukrainian to several words: "звантажити" or "стягнути". The latter is less informal.
It is essential to differentiate downloading and uploading processes as they are different, and both these processes or actions фку to have clear translation.
Sadly, there is strong ruzzian language influence, which is inherited in other software products (eg MS, Google), please, compare the incorrect translation of the word application as "додаток", where the closest one is "застосунок".
I am arguing to use specifically the translation which is closer to the direct meaning which is clearly defining the actions, and at the same time ignore ruzzian influences, even if they temporarily became "mainstreamish".
[spoiler] Meanwhile, it is quite interesting to read that clients do not want to use some software as they do not understand meaning of Ukrainian words. [/spoiler]

Actually, the discussion on using the proper meaning is still ongoing. It is not outdated. For me Google is not the ideal example. I understand that you do not want to experiment with words but just use, what people use.
In my opinion, Nextcloud is not a pop tool but a community driven platform, where the experiments are practiced, including the ones which are connected with using more Ukrainian forms of language.

The Google translations are done by commercials, and they are not obviouslu the standard in the Ukrainian language. Moreover, some of the translations done by that particular company are not correct (I've mentioned at least about one of them). Nextcloud is the community driven project where the community suggests and discuss the software, but not copy-pastes what is developed my GGL, M$, AMZN whatever.
By translating of download and upload by the same word brings ambiguity in understanding the processes. Moreover, I gave you the link to the Eng-Ukr Vocabulary of Tech Terms, where this ambiguity is solved.

Please change one wrong Ukraine translation of word "Download". Not correct "Звантажити" to correct "Завантажити" everywhere in the project. Lot of client do not want to use this function because of wrong translation. I have hundreds of complains! Many thanks!
