[Bug]: can't access created SMB shares with manually entered credentials stored in database #46461

⚠️ This issue respects the following points: ⚠️

Bug description

Created an external SMB share for a user and selected "manually entered credentials stored in database". The user cant access the share. Clicking the share name does nothing. In version 28.x the user had to enter the credentials when entering for the first time, but now the credentials dialogue is missing.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a SMB share for a user "A"
  2. Select "manually entered credentials stored in database"
  3. Login with the user "A"
  4. Try to enter the newly created share
  5. See nothing happen

Expected behavior

When entering for the first time it should ask for credentials and the following times it should use the previously stored credentials.

Additional info

When accessing "External Storage" view on files apps I can see only the newly created external storage with the red colour indicating that there are no credentials to access the storage, and there is an additional button on each inaccessible storage to enter the missing credentials. I was able to enter the credentials using that button. So, the missing credentials dialogue is only on the main view.

joshtrichards commented 1 month ago

Hi @muchachagrande - This sounds like maybe #44497? Can you confirm that's what you're experiencing?

muchachagrande commented 1 month ago

Hi @joshtrichards, it is the same. At first I was expecting the authentication dialog to show on first access of the new share, but the dialog didn't show. Then I went to "external storage" section and I tried the "enter missing credentials" button. It didn't work at first, but I refreshed the page a couple of times and at some point the credentials dialog appeared and I could save the username/password. I never use the "enter missing credentials" button before. I just entered the credentials on first access of the share under the main view.
