The problem

The Nextcloud Files app lacks an efficient search feature within its interface. Users must rely on the limited unified search, which is confined to a small dialog and impractical. Filtering only applies to currently loaded files.

Hi @susnux, here are a couple of mockups based on our discussion

This second one shows a button that would appear only when global results are not currently "scrolled into view", and clicking it would bring them into view Image

Just something to consider for consistency sake: would it make more sense to move the filter/search field to the top bar like the Deck app and Apps list page? I've been using version 30 for a month now and keep forgetting there's the filter field on the sidebar, but regularly use the top bar search in the apps where it's available because it's so intuitive.
