Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Currently read markers are eating 44px out of chat width. While it's OK for desktop screen resolution for chatting, it becomes a problem for sidebars (Files, Talk in call) and mobile devices

It's unlikely to have useful update states during a call. Could also just hide it there in the narrow view and have it only in the message menu?

Then we can save all the hard work to toggle sides and put it next to the name in case of avatar, etc.

I think that sidebar is for the Talk tab in Files. Changing the read marker to the other side to leverage the space in the avatar column sounds good but maybe skip the read marker next to the avatar ? it seems peculiar to me .
