Surface Roughness & Y plus Monitoring #96

Hello,

First of all, thank you for the great tools you have created. Baram plays a big part in trying to use open-source tools for industrial cases. I have two features that I believe are urgently required.

1. Surface Roughness of Materials When declaring the boundary conditions in BaramFlow, there should be an option to declare roughness parameters (roughness height and roughness constant) at the walls. This is imperative for turbulent simulations. After derisking baramFlow with a simple case study, I found that I can no longer use it for my industrial cases due to the absence of this feature.

2. Y+ monitoring Another important part of the analysis is the y+ monitoring. It would be useful to have the option to choose this at the Monitors section of BaramFlow. Otherwise, there has to be an easier way to open a console within baram and utilise the OpenFOAM functions.

Thanks in advance for taking those into account

Hello @parisipa. This is Donggyu from NEXTFOAM. Thank you for your interest in BARAM.

  1. Surface roughness I know that there is the option for surface roughness in ANSYS Fluent. I'll foward it to our developer and consider to develop for that option in positive direction.

  2. y+ monitoring As I told #97, we'll implement that function. After we add it, I'll let you know. Could you wait until then?

Thanks

Thank you very much for the rapid response! Yes, of course, I will be looking out for those features in future. Would it be possible to have an estimated timeline? Also, how frequent are your releases?

kdg5424 commented 1 month ago

Hello @parisipa.

We release once in a quarter. The feature will be added late this year or the 1st quarter of next year.

I will remind you again if the feature is added.

Thanks
