Often the Dashboard is missing columns that would be valuable for day to day management. For example I might want a column that shows that an alert was sent, or the last message received time, or the port(s) I am receiving or sending on. In other words let me add whatever I want. If the $gc var exists, show it. The provides extensability really cheaply for a handful of requests here already like "show last message date time" "show port".

A column editor that allows the specification of a column name and where it source from.

there isn't one. At the moment, gotta select the channel to then see the var at the bottom.
