Extend and adapt documentation to include MPI #483

The documentation gives installation instructions for Mac, debian-based Linux, and Conda. At the moment, the instructions are only valid for the serial build, not including MPI. The conda installation can also be a bit volatile for C++/MPI

Tasks:

[x] Split up installation and building instructions.
[x] Add information for MPI builds
[x] Consider removing conda install information (and potentially do it)

Kept the conda option for the serial install in, as it might be preferable for some users.
