Hi all, with my lab being partially re-opened I'm a bit busy this week.
@cassiawag in terms of feedback, I think sometimes the figures can be a bit hard to read. e.g. sometimes the report mentions 5 clusters, but it was not very obvious which 5 it was refering to. Also sometimes there are very similar colors - I remember once it was about two cities in California but their colors were impossible to tell apart. I understand this might all have to do with automation with auspice, which can provide a more interactive experience. Maybe there's a decision to be made, between 'interactive' and 'static, academic-like' figures. I feel the figures are more or less 'static' in the reports anyways, so maybe one can consider taking a snapshot and put some texts/labels on the figure, to make it clearer.
This is just a minor issue, though. I'm impressed with the timely, high-quality reports every week! Thanks for your effort in fighting the pandemic!
All the best!
Thanks for the feedback @lxy0107 -- super valuable!
Hi @cassiawag , sorry for being late. I would like to continue on the mandarin version this week also but I am quite busy with thesis this year. May I introduce another PhD student @ZenithFZH who's major in biophysic? We will together work on the mandarin version. I expect the final version will be ready before Wednesday.
Thanks again @lxy0107 for the perfect translation from the past few weeks. Glad working with you.
No problem, I may still join in the weeks to come!

Just pull-requested first draft of the May 08 situation report.
Welcome to the team @ZenithFZH! Glad to have you onboard. I've invited you to join the Nextstrain organization. Please accept my invitation. After doing so, you should have access to push to sit-rep_zh
without making a pull request.
Thank you @cassiawag ! It's my honour to work with you. I have just pushed to the corresponding branch a first draft of the report published on May 8th. I think this doc needs further supervision.
Twitter post to translate: “想知道更多的亚洲新冠病毒疫情进展吗?这周的状况报告借由 #SARSCoV2 病毒基因组信息追溯 #COVID19 疫情在亚洲的传播。 中文版报告现已上线。 感谢本周参与翻译的@fu_zit 和 @fengjun_zhang 。"
Proofreading is finished. Welcome and good work @ZenithFZH ! Glad you join our mandarin team =)

^in the opposite order. Thanks so much!
Happy weekend @nextstrain/mandarin,
The situation report from 2020-05-08 is ready to be translated to Mandarin. This week's report is short and sweet and focuses on Asia. We tried to tie the trees in with other epidemiological info; I'm curious to hear what you think of it. As with other regional reports (and really all reports) if you don't have time or are not able to translate this report, totally fine. Just let me know.
We've been publishing weekly reports on covid for two months now! As such, we're taking time this next week to re-evaluate narratives and figure out how we can make these reports as useful as possible going forward. I'd welcome your feedback on the situation reports -- what you find useful, what you don't, how often you think reports should be published, how these reports help (or don't help) Mandarin speakers.
Branch to translate on:
sit-rep_zh
File to translate: https://github.com/nextstrain/translations/blob/sit-rep_zh/narratives/translations_ncov_sit-rep_zh_2020-05-08.md You can translate directly in this file, but please remember to push often as other people may be working on the translation!

Twitter post to translate: “Want to learn more about outbreaks in Asia? This week's situation report uses #SARSCoV2 genomes to track the recent spread of #COVID19 in Asia. The report is now available in Mandarin. Thank you @, @, and @ for the rapid translation."
Thanks so much for your help -- it's always a pleasure to work with you. See below for standard translation stuff.
Best, Cassia

At minimum, I require two sets of eyes on every translation; one of those people should have a background in phylogenetics. Although if you have more, that’s fine too.
