@phyy-nx Could you please give some comment here on precisely what you want from the NIAC? Do you want a NIAC vote to prefer American spelling?

Ok, after review, I don't need a general vote for American vs. British spelling. I was mainly trying here to match existing usage in DIALS code. I think the PR (nexusformat/definitions#858) can be reviewed as is.
